About
Patricia Sayre, NPP
Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Seeking help for your mental health can be difficult, and I want you to know that your struggles are real and your feelings are valid. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where we work together to help you feel better and achieve long-term wellbeing. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I’m committed to walking alongside you on your journey toward balance, recovery, and personal growth.

I currently treat patients ages 13 and older who are experiencing emotional distress or psychiatric challenges. While my clinical background spans a wide range of mental health conditions, I have a particular focus on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and ADHD. I believe in taking a holistic approach—considering every aspect of your life and wellbeing—to develop a treatment plan that fits you as an individual.

Although my primary focus is medication management, I integrate techniques from Positive Psychology, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support each session. I often provide brief therapeutic guidance during appointments and encourage all patients to also maintain a regular therapeutic relationship with a counselor or therapist for comprehensive care.
In the state of NY, I am a certified buprenorphine prescriber and welcome the opportunity to work with you if you have an opioid use disorder. I am also licensed to certify patients for medical marijuana but ONLY provide this for the psychiatric reasons outlined by NY state guidelines.

Before starting my private practice, I worked in a variety of psychiatric settings, including inpatient units at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Four Winds Hospital, as well as several outpatient clinics treating patients across the lifespan. My professional path has also taken me beyond the U.S.—I have worked with Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Armenia and was awarded a Fulbright grant to conduct HIV research on behavior modification within the cultural context of the Maasai community in northern Tanzania.

I bring these diverse experiences to my practice with the goal of offering compassionate, evidence-based care that honors each person’s unique story.

What Are Nurse Practitoiners
Nurse practitioners start their careers as registered nurses then complete graduate studies focusing on assessment, diagnoses, and treatment of conditions within their specialty. Following completion of this rigorous course of study, nurse practitioners must pass a national certification exam to become board-certified in their respective fields of practice. Although scopes of practice vary from state to state, all 50 states allow nurse practitioners to assess, diagnose, and treat patients using various modalities, including prescription medications, and are able to bill insurance companies for their services. Nurse practitioners are known for their focus on counseling, disease prevention, and health management.
